How Maia Baby Works

Intracervical insemination (ICI) is a common method of artificial insemination that involves placing semen directly near the cervix, closely mimicking natural intercourse. We’ve specifically developed a highly effective insemination syringe called the Maia Applicator™, included in our kit to help you smoothly deliver sperm close to the cervix.

ICI is often employed by individuals or couples experiencing fertility issues, such as male factor infertility, cervical problems, or unexplained infertility. In these contexts, ICI can enhance the chances of conception compared to natural attempts.

For single women, same-sex female couples or those utilising donor sperm, ICI serves as a viable method to achieve pregnancy.

ICI is generally less invasive and more affordable than other assisted reproductive technologies like intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilisation (IVF), making it an accessible option for many.

A study published in Human Reproduction reported a pregnancy rate of 37.9% after six treatment cycles of ICI.

Whether you're just beginning your TTC (trying to conceive) journey, taking a break from fertility clinics, or exploring your options as a solo mum or LGBTQ+ couple, our kit is here to offer clarity, comfort, and support. Every part of Maia Baby is made with care — fully registered with the MHRA and compliant with both UKCA and CE standards — so you can feel safe from the very first step.

Because fertility clinics aren’t the only path.

Home insemination is backed by science and increasingly chosen by people across the TTC community. With the right timing, tools, and a supportive guide, inseminating at home can be an empowering and effective option — emotionally, physically, and financially.

How to Use Maia Baby

A simple 7-step process — or download the full PDF guide.
  • Find Your Fertile Window

Use the LH strips to detect your surge. Inseminate 12–36 hours after your peak result.

  • Prepare the Sample

Collect semen in the cup. Use fresh at room temp, or thawed donor sample right away.

  • Load the Applicator

Draw up the sample slowly. Avoid air bubbles in the barrel or tip.

  • Get Comfortable

Lie down and elevate hips with pillows to support flow and access.

  • Insert and Release

Insert the syringe, aim gently upward, and slowly release. You can guide with a clean finger.

  • Rest and Relax

Stay lying down for 15–30 minutes. Breathe and rest.

  • Clean Up

Dispose of the syringe. Wash the cup with mild soap and warm water. Rinse and air dry.
